Playschool in an Active Learning Environment
At Tumbling Tots Playschool, we encourage children to learn through movement as well as exploration, discovery, and play. In our active learning environment, your child will get to explore the foundations of gymnastics, while also discovering their creative side, building onto their basic knowledge, and learning to share and work with others in our activity room.
We strive to provide a program that allows cross-curricular activities where children are supported to learn through many different methods. For example, basic counting, number recognition and ‘reading’ a picture will be learned in the activity room through discovery and games as well as in the gym through movement. In addition, children can practice using the basic body awareness and coordination they learn in the gym while completing other activities in the activity room.
Our Instructors
Miss Natasha
(BPE, BEd, Level 2 Gymnastics, Active Start)
Miss Natasha has over 20 years of combined experience in coaching and teaching. As an Artistic Gymnastics coach, she has worked with all age groups (1 to 90+ years old) and all abilities—recreational programs, specialized gymnastics for kids with disabilities and for aging adults, Women’s Pre-Competitive to Provincial levels and Men’s Pre-Competitive to National levels.
Miss Natasha currently specializes in Active Start Gymnastics for children 6 and under.
As a teacher, Miss Natasha has experience teaching many grade levels from Elementary to High School including, Opportunity classes (Special Education), Kindergarten and tutoring. While her teaching experience stemmed from tutoring part-time, it quickly grew into teaching within the school system both as a substitute and contract teacher. In the last few years, Miss Natasha has found a passion working with younger children. She loves helping them overcome new challenges to show them that anything is possible if you try.
Miss Meagan
(BEd, Level 1 Gymnastics, Active Start)
Miss Meagan has been teaching for 9 years within the school system both as a substitute and a contracted teacher. While she has taught many different grade levels she specifically brings with her a wealth of knowledge in teaching Preschool. Miss Meagan specializes in the Active Start age group (under 6 years old). She is passionate about helping children learn through different learning methods all the while making each method as fun as possible. Her fun loving ways encourage our Playschool children to try their best, and understand that they can always try again if things do no work the way they intended the first time.
Miss HJ
(B.Ed Student, NCCP Foundations – Artistic Gymnastics & Active Start)
Miss HJ was a gymnast for over seven years and has been coaching gymnastics for over four years. She has a passion for teaching and coaching and is currently working on her Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta. This is Miss HJ's first year teaching with the Playschool and she is thrilled to be able to help our Playschoolers learn and grow while including gymnastics as part of the program.
Miss Jaden
(B.Ed Student, NCCP Comp 2 Artistic Gymnastics & Active Start)
Miss Jaden has joined Tumbling Tots this year as a substitute Instructor and we are so excited to have her help us out! She has been involved in gymnastics for 16 years as both an athlete and a coach. Miss Jaden has a passion for working with children to help them achieve success in everything they do. She is currently completing her Bachelor of Education Degree through the University of Alberta so that she can continue to teach well into the future. This will be Miss Jaden's first year teaching with the Playschool and she is excited to work with all the children combining gymnastics with fundamental learning skills.
